Turkey is a rich country where numberless different civilizations harmonized over many centuries. Within ICOC XV, special  post-tours will be organized, aiming to show the cultural heritage of Turkey, in addition to exploring more rug collections in the museums of Anatolia.

The pre-tour from the 1st to 6th of June 2024 is scheduled to explore Central Anatolia, starting from Ankara to Konya and finishing with the magical landscapes of Cappadocia. During the trip, the participants will also have a chance to stop at the Sultanhani Caravanserai, built during the Seljuk period, the biggest of the 13th Century. The mayor of Sultanhani is planning to schedule an exhibition of rugs from the region especially for this group.

From the 9 th of June to the 12th to Western Anatolia (the Aegean area), an area rich with weaving workshops and villages. Departure from Istanbul by plane to Izmir. After visiting the Arkas Museum which opened recently to showcase amazing classical Ottoman rugs from the Arkas Collection, the tour will continue to Bergama, known as the Pergamon. Center of Greek and Roman cultures -the Altar is now in Berlin Museum- the ancient site, city center and the museum is worth visiting. The famous Bergama motif still being woven in workshops in the city center and in neighboring villages.

Post Conference Tour - Southeast Anatolia

From the 9th of June to 13th of June, Southeast of Turkey. Departure from Istanbul by plane to Mardin. Mardin will greet all the visitors with the mysteries of Mesopotamia. Than Sanliurfa, city of Abraham, Balikligol will be visited. Gobeklitepe, Potbelly Hill, the earliest settlement of human is an adventure. The head of excavations will accompany the tour. The tour will end in Gaziantep with a gastronomic feast, renowned mosaic museum and bazaars.
